All products come from natural resources. When these natural resources are sold or traded they are called commodities. Commodities obtained from cattle could be milk, beef or leather. From sheep we get wool and mutton or lamb. Wheat is a commodity. Timber, fruit and vegetables are commodities. The sea provides commodities like fish and salt.

Minerals in Australia are valuable natural resources. They are sold as commodities for the manufacture of different products all over the world.
